Maybe woman have been RUNNING our country for their Husbands.

I feel that America is ready for a woman president. We have elected America's first African American so why not a woman. Actually a lot of people believe that during the Clinton administration that Hilary was actually the brains behind the presidency and that President Clinton was just the voice putting it out there. Also look at Eleanor Roosevelt she was almost in charge for a short time with her husband's death.

Qualities of Women Leaders

From a study done by Caliper and Aurora companies.

Women leaders are more assertive and persuasive, have a stronger need to get things done and are more willing to take risks than male leaders....Women leaders were also found to be more empathetic and flexible, as well as stronger in interpersonal skills than their male counterparts....enabl[ing] them to read situations accurately and take information in from all sides....These women leaders are able to bring others around to their point of view....because they genuinely understand and care about where others are coming from....so that the people they are leading feel more understood, supported and valued

The Caliper study findings are summarized into four specific statements about women's leadership qualities:

Women leaders are more persuasive than their male counterparts.
When feeling the sting of rejection, women leaders learn from adversity and carry on with an "I'll show you" attitude.
Women leaders demonstrate an inclusive, team-building leadership style of problem solving and decision making.
Women leaders are more likely to ignore rules and take risks.

Dr. Musimbi Kanyoro, the World YWCA Secretary General, says attitudes toward leadership are changing, and what women offer is essential:

Domination as a leadership style is becoming less and less popular. There is a new growing appreciation of...those traits that women use to keep families together and to organize volunteers to unite and make change in the shared life of communities. These newly admired leadership qualities of shared leadership; nurturance and doing good for others are today not only sought after but also indeed needed to make a difference in the world....A feminine way of leading includes helping the world to understand and be principled about values that really matter

Women Leaders

Women leaders have been in history for centuries whether its Hatshepsut, Nefertiti and Cleopatra in Ancient Egypt, or Elizabeth the 1st of England, Queen Isabella of Spain. Women leaders are and were everywhere like Catherine the Great of Russia, Indira Gandhi prime minister of India, and Margaret Thatcher Prime Minister of England. Mother Theresa, Princess Diana of Wales, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Nancy Reagan. American Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Hilary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Angela Merkel the current Chancellor of Germany and Benazir Bhutto Pakistan's first and to date only female prime minister who was assassinated in 2007 served two terms.

America's skepticism

Yeah Its taken us decades to elect a mixed race male president but we need a female president. As Mr. Martin had said in the past Women presidents or leaders are more about health care and education and men are for money and war. Its ridicules that our country has such poor health care for our people. Its also ridicule that we are so low on the list of countries with the best education. In 2002 we were 18th out of 24 countries ranked by UNICEF. United States was 18th among the 36 nations examined by USA Today with South Korea in the 1st spot. At one point even a small country like Luxembourg.

Powerpoint

I have decided to make a powerpoint along with three statues of women's role change thur the times. The powerpoint consists of famous women leaders and quotes from the famous people. In the powerpoint there are women like some of America's first ladies, British prime ministers, other countries female presidents, supreme court judges, and mother teresa so far.

Art form Ideas for women leaders

The art form the Katy and I discussed was three different women. A woman of the thirties or something like that who is a homemaker with a pie in hand and an apron on. Then you have rosie the riveter working for the country while our men were at war. Then you have the working woman with a business suit and brief case. something along those lines but I'm not sure how to put it into art yet but I was thinking of maybe sculptures or art work.
